My daughter Rebecca and I are trained storm spotters. We're usually not in a good position for viewing, but we got a chance Friday evening around 6:20pm to check out this storm. This picture is looking NNE towards the Forsyth, IL area. Strong rotation was reported.
This picture is towards the NW and was over Niantic/Harristown, IL.
A trained weather spotter can be a valuable asset not only to the National Weather Service, but also to their community and families. Having the knowledge to understand what you're seeing and to evaluate the threat is a key to getting through the storm.
Kinda like our lives - I think you can make the connection.
